Playing a Clan Challenge last night with teammate of mine from Lethal-Energy, we had a conversation my attachments article. He had a few questions that I thought many of you might have so I will go into further detail to explain, because looking back I didn’t give a few of the more controvesial attachments justice in explaining.
No attachment effects the DAMAGE of a weapon despite what the stat bar might say. The only attachment and it’s killing me to say this, where I could see where they would put a damage increase is the FMJ attachment because the attachment is allowing you to do your normal amount of damage as if the wall wasn’t there in some cases (in simplistic terms). As far as the Silencer & Long Barrel attachments, they do NOT increase or decrease the damage of a weapon. How do you test this? Go into a custom lobby with a friend have them stand x amount of meters away, use whatever gun you want with and without attachment and see how many shots it takes to kill that person.
The FORE GRIP attachment does NOT increase your accuracy. My own teammate didn’t believe me! When I first heard the whispers I didn’t believe it either so I tested it. Believe me! It’s a placebo effect, go into a custom lobby by yourself, shoot at a wall without Fore Grip and with Fore Grip. Ah Ha! No Difference! Sir David from Treyarch won’t you to believe him, tell him to fix it and we will.
The math behind Silencer and Long Barrel. If you use a Shotgun, first of all I hate you, second of all use a silencer. Silencer’s range penatly on a shotgun is -10%, my teammate has got Diamond Camo for every class, he is moving on to his last class.. shotguns. So we were discussing this. -10% is like saying is a particular shotgun’s 1shot kill range is 10m a silencer will bring it down to 9m. After my discussion with him it made me reconsider one of my previous statements. The Long Barrel attachment is the same for each class, increasing range by 15%. Before I stated it wasn’t worth using for SMGs, but considering the lines of site in most of the levels can be SMG friendly, I would say use it only when you have an open slot available (Don’t take something out for it) I know that might sound like a cop out, but statisically speaking depending on the confidence interval I could be either really anal and reject the null, or not reject the null hypothesis that “Long Barrel significantlly effects the gun’s performance.“
At the end of each article I will now have a Fact that you may or may not have known about Call of Duty Black Ops 2.
Did You Know? Switching between Hybrid Optics while firing a burst weapon makes the gun shoot automatic.
